Webteam: March 2021
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
May the love, peace and joy of the Risen Christ be with you!
On behalf of the Telford Circuit, I would like to wish you a blessed Easter and say a big 'thank you' to our ministers, office staff, Local Preachers, Circuit Leadership Team, church leaders and members for your hard work over the past difficult twelve months.
This is our second Easter during this pandemic. It has spread throughout the globe and altered our world previously unimaginable ways. About 2.79 million people have died throughout the world ,including at least 127 ,000 people in the United Kingdom. Our economy has taken a massive blow due to Covid — 19 and, since the Second World War, this is the gravest disaster that humanity has faced.
During the pandemic , we have faced suffering and difficulties andso , inevitably , for many of us, our faith and trust in God has also been shaken. But Easter is upon us, and Easter brings :
In Easter, we see Christ's triumph over the darkness of death. As children of His Kingdom, we too experience that same triumph as the Risen Christ. We must place our faith in our victorious Lord, and not focus unduly on our present situation. The Resurrection of the risen Christ fills us with new hope and optimism, for Christ conquered the ultimate enemy - death itself.
John 20:19 tells us that" On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the door locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said , ' Peace be with you!'
The empty cross and the empty tomb are our 'Weapons of Mass Protection'. We place our trust in PPE, the NHS, scientists and vaccines - and rightly so. But, above all, should we not place our faith in the Risen Christ? There are many questions to which we don't have all the answers. But one thing I know for sure: whatever the question is, Jesus Christ is the answer! We have a Risen Saviour and His power is available to you!
Last Easter, our Queen gave us these words of encouragement: "We know that coronavirus will not overcome us. As dark as death can be — particularly for those suffering with grief — light and life are greater. May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face the future."
Paul's first Letter to the Corinthians gives us an even greater promise: "By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also." ( 1 Corinthians 6: 14 )
" Thine be the glory , risen , conquering Son,
endless is the victory thou o'er death hast won !"
Hallelujah ! Amen !
Wishing you a Blessed Easter and may you experience the Resurrection Power.
