There are many people in Shropshire who are really struggling to cope with the basic essentials such as food. For this reason Food Banks have become a vital part of their lives, without them some people and families would simply have to go without food.
Many of the Methodist churches in Shropshire work alongside the Telford Crisis Support which is a sponsored network that provides food, emergency help with gas and electric and other basics necessary for basic day to day life.
They also act as Food Bank Donation Points giving the local community a place to go where they can donate food to help others less fortunate than themselves.
In addition the Dawley Christian Centre runs an Advice Centre with people on hand to help individuals gain access to internet sites to find the answers to their problems.
They offer a friendly listening service and if necessary can offer food and help with their gas and electricity to get them through a tough patch. The Advice Centre is manned by volunteers from the Telford Methodist Circuit and the Central Telford Ecumenical Partnership (which includes members of the Church of England and the Baptist Church).
If you would like to donate food for the food bank there are donation points at the following churches:

Our volunteer staff help in all sorts of ways; such as welcoming, listening, offering kindness and help to those who are bemused, worried and simply uncertain about things that crucially affect their lives and no-one else seems to care about.
If you or someone you know is struggling and doesn't have enough food, then maybe we can help.
Please call 01952 505108 between 9-1pm and someone will be there to explain what you need to do next.
You are very welcome to call into the Dawley Christian Centre for advice or to use one of our computers and we have phone that is free to use. You will receive a warm welcome and a listening ear.
This organisation offers many services to people going through a crisis and may offer them a food parcel. They make up a parcel from their own stores and deliver it to the Dawley Christian Centre, where we store it temporarily and hand it out when the client arrives.
These two organisations work together to help people who are effectively homeless to find temporary accommodation. We may refer people who are homeless (sleeping rough, sofa-surfing or facing eviction) to KIP or Maninplace who may be able to find them temporary accommodation. Maninplace may also refer people to us to receive food parcels.
CAB can offer free advice to people on a wide range of topics including benefits, housing, employment law, tenancy, debt management, relationships, alcohol and drug misuse. The CAB comes to Dawley Christian Centre on a Friday morning.
WHT works with a number of landlords in the area to match up people who want to rent and the properties available. They operate the Choose Your Home Internet service.
