Our Circuit is steeped in history – industrial history, with Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution at our centre, and Methodist history, because our founder, John Wesley was a frequent visitor to the area in the eighteenth century. He often came to visit Rev John Fletcher, Vicar of Madeley and an early Methodist. But we are also forward-looking, seeking to show that the gospel is relevant in the 21st century and seeking new ways to share the good news of Jesus Christ in our part of the world.
We are part of the West Midlands Methodist District. We have three Local Ecumenical Partnerships in the Circuit, one with the Church of England and two with the United Reformed Church. We also have a new Covenanted relationship with the Church of England in Shifnal.
We are also proud to have a Methodist/Church of England school in our Circuit.
